Key Stage 2 (Year Groups 5 & 6)

For Key Stage 2 pupils, homework will be set weekly for Maths and English. This may take the form of written tasks or computer-based activities, and there will be a mixture over the course of the year. In addition, pupils are expected to read daily and practise their multiplication tables. In Year 5, weekly homework will begin once pupils are in their Maths and English sets; until then, the focus should be on daily reading and practising key Maths skills. Occasionally, other subjects may set small tasks or projects, though this will not be on a weekly basis.

English: For access to Lexia and Renaissance Place, please use the links on this page, which are specific to our school.

Great news! You can quiz on your Renaissance books from home. Click on the images and login as you would normally.  To check if your books from home have a quiz, remember to use the AR book find website: www.arbookfind.co.uk .

We will be able to see the number of quizzes you take and the progress you are making. Good luck and happy reading to you all.

Key Stage 3 (Year Groups 7 & 8)

For Key Stage 3 pupils, weekly homework will be set in English and Maths. Science homework will be set as required and may include creative projects, online activities, or revision tasks to support assessment preparation. Pupils are also expected to continue daily reading and regular practice of key mathematical skills.

We recognise the importance of pupils being able to relax and take a break from academic responsibilities during the school holidays. For this reason, no homework tasks will be set during holiday periods. The only exception will be short revision tasks for Year 6 pupils during the Easter break, in preparation for the SATs in May.

Your child’s planner is where homework tasks should be recorded as and when they are set, along with details about the content, expectations, and deadlines. This system helps your child to keep track of their responsibilities and encourages accountability and time management.

In Years 7 and 8, most foundation subjects will set Extended Learning Assignments (ELAs). There will be no more than two or three ELAs set in any half term. These tasks are designed to promote independence and effective time management. Subject teachers will provide clear guidance so that pupils feel confident and well prepared.
